Ugly Christmas sweater District Meeting (Elder Fuller, Elder Pitcher, Elder and Sister Bay, me and Sister Mikesell, Sister McKendrick, and Sister Chowen)
Hey Y'all!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas filled with great food
and company! We had a wonderful time here and spent most of the day visiting
with different members. I LOVE the people here. We had so many people ask us if
we had a place to go for Christmas and invite us over for dinner. Everyone we
visited gave us gifts and made sure we had a wonderful Christmas away from
home.
One of the highlights was definitely getting to Skype with
my family and see that everyone is doing well:)
The Blizzards have come!
On Sunday we sung in the Choir at church for the Christmas
program and let me just say, Sister Mikesell can sing! We had so many people
come up and tell her what a great job she did and then they turned to me and
were like, "You did great too" and I just laughed and was like,
"Yeah no, but thanks anyways!" I think they're going to make her sing
in Sacrament next month haha.
White Christmas
On Friday before District Meeting the Bays drove us to a
covered bridge in Philippi that apparently was the site of the first battle of
the Civil War. I had driven over a few times before and hadn't even noticed. We
also found out that morning that President Lindhardt was coming up for
interviews that night and we were supposed to be at the Church at 6pm. We
quickly rescheduled a meeting we had at that time and felt okay about the
dinner appointment we had at 7pm because the interviews usually only last like
10 minutes each. So we get to the church a little before 6 and find out
President is running a little behind. He doesn't get there until almost 7 and
has to interview the Philippi Elders first... So by the time we get in it's
past 7:30 and we totally blew our dinner appointment. Luckily we were able to
communicate with the members who were going to feed us and they are the nicest
people in the world so they had us still come over and we got to their house at
about 8pm. The Ward Mission leader had also come over for dinner so they all
enjoyed the meal together and we just threw our meal in the microwave when we
got there.
The work is going great over here! We have started teaching
many new people in the past couple weeks but it's been a little frustrating
because everyone is out of town for the holidays. We expect to see some
miracles when everyone comes back next week:)
I love all of you and hope you continue to have a wonderful
holiday season!
